2. 1963 AMBR Winner – XR-6, 1927 Ford

Built as a magazine project by then editor Leroi “Tex” Smith of Hot Rod, the XR-6 is a wild custom meant to showcase contemporary trends in hot rod design. With legends such as George Barris, Gene Winfield, and Tony Nancy being involved in the process – what they came up with was highly unconventional. Photos: Tim Sutton
