Top Drivers and Vehicles of Nitto’s 2023 Ultra4 Off-Road Racing Team

Ultra4 off-road racing is extremely difficult—to win it takes a dedicated team, talented drivers, and the best equipment—Nitto is proud to be part of that equation.

Of the numerous teams running Nitto Trail Grappler tires on their rigs throughout the series, and the 121 listed teams, here are 10 drivers to watch this season when the dust, rocks, and mud starts flying in the 2023.

Josh Blyler

Vehicle: Miller Motorsports Chassis, Chevy LS V8

2022 Season Rank: 1

Winner of the 2020 King of the Hammers, his teal-colored straight-axled beast of a rig powered to the top spot. He also won the Ultra4 US Regional points championship last year.

Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Vehicle: Triton Engineering Chassis, Ford V8

2022 Season Rank: 2

Taking the series by storm, but relatively new to off-road, he’s no stranger to racing with multiple championship wins as a pro driver for the Formula Drift series. Vaughn also took 2nd in Ultra4’s 4600 stock class with several podium finishes this season in a modified Ford Bronco.

Bailey Campbell

Vehicle: Campbell Enterprises Chassis, Chevy LS V8

2022 Season Rank: 3

She’s been driving off-road since she could hold a steering wheel and is one of the toughest racers coming out of the Monster Energy Campbell Camp. She fought hard throughout the year and earned one of the top spots in 2022, so don’t be surprised if she wins it all in 2023.

Rusty Blyler

Vehicle: Miller Motorsports Chassis, Chevy LS V8

2022 Season Rank: 5

Don’t confuse this off-road racing veteran’s Big B Motorsports green car with his son’s nearly identical, teal-colored car driven by Josh Blyler. When many of their competitors are running more advanced IFS suspension systems, the Blyler’s depend on the proven performance of straight axle cars—it’s a formula that continues to win races.

Paul Wolff

Vehicle: UFO Chassis, Chevy LS V8 Engine

2022 Season Rank: 7

Coming in hot on the scene from the UTV rock bouncing community he was very successful transitioning to a 4400 driver and won at his first race ever with the UFO single seat chassis. Paul is one of only a handful of racers who attended every single regional Ultra4 Race and will be exciting to watch race this season.

Paul Horschel

Vehicle: Horschel-Built Racing, Chevy Big-Block V8

2022 Season Rank:12

Another veteran racer who is not afraid to push the limits, Paul also has the advantage of a new car with a ton of helpful tech crammed in, like four-wheel steering. His iconic orange rig can be seen ripping through courses with one of the biggest engines in the 4400 class.

Loren Healy

Vehicle: Triton Engineering Chassis, Ford V8

2022 Season Rank: 18

Always a contender for a King of the Hammers win, Loren has won it twice, with his first way back in 2010. Seemingly fearless, he and his new Ford Bronco broke the internet last year at Hammers during qualifying when launched off a 15-foot ledge that all the other drivers avoided. He’s an all-around great guy and has helped Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Paul Wolff get into Ultra4 racing.

Raul Gomez

Vehicle: UFO Chassis, Chevy LS V8

2022 Season Rank: 21

Last year’s winner of King of the Hammers, he was a terror from the minute he left the starting line to the moment he took the checkered flag. It’s no accident that he wins races, Raul and the brothers Gomez put in the time to make wins happen and all use single seat UFO chassis and talk, work, and test their cars all throughout the year. This season make sure to keep an eye on Darian, Marcos, and JP, too.

Shannon Campbell

Vehicle: Campbell Enterprises Chassis, Chevy LS V8

2022 Season Rank: 22

Already a legend in rock crawling before he came to Ultra4 racing, and quickly figured out how to win, and now has three KOH wins under his belt. In addition to racing, he builds all of the Campbell race cars in-house including Bailey’s, Wayland’s and Bryan Croft’s rigs. This year he is changing his famous single seat race car for a two-seater so a navigator can help him stay on the gas though all the twists and turns of the courses.

Erik Miller

Vehicle: Miller Motorsports Chassis, Chevy LS V8

2022 Season Rank: 23

Another previous King of the Hammers Champion, Erik has been thrashing on his car for more than a decade. He’s one of the few contenders with a rig sporting a straight axle set-up in front (along with the Blylers) and is the head Miller in Miller Motorsports. Last year he won the Teardown in Tennessee race and is pushing hard to increase his wins this year.
