Scion 2014 SEMA Preview
Each year Scion brings SEMA to Los Angeles for an advance preview of the cars they'll be displaying in Las Vegas the following week at the SEMA Show. This sneak preview is always a fun and awesome preview of what's coming!
Scion collaborated with six builders this year ranging from musicians, skateboarders and media partners to create their own interpretations of the xB, tC and FR-S.
Pro Skater Riley Hawk created a throwback to 70's vanning culture with this custom xB.
Outfitted with a shag carpet, 8-track player, fish bowl window, retro paint and INNO skateboard rack, Riley Hawk's xB looks straight out of 1975.
MV Designs translated the look and sound of Slayer into the Scion x Slayer Mobile Amp tC.
Leaving nothing untouched, the tC features airbrushed skulls, suicide doors and a custom sound system in the trunk.
Cartel Customs brought out this turbocharged Targa Top FR-S.
Packing a turbocharged motor under the hood, the Targa FR-S bring back memories of targa topped Supras and 911s that were popular in the 80's.
Scion also debuted their latest Release Series, the 2015 tC Release Series 9.0 featuring "show car" styling.
Center stage at the event are the completed Tuner Challenge builds. Each year, Scion chooses three builders and gives them a Scion and 90-days to build a car in time for SEMA. For 2014, Speedhunters, GT Channel and Super Street built their variation of an FR-S with the winner being announced next week at the SEMA show. Super Street
Combining the Rocket Bunny kit with the FR-S Release Series 1.0, Super Streets' PPG Speed Yellow paint covers the cars exterior and the famous fender flares have been molded into the body, barely covering the 10.25" and 12.25" wide BBS wheels wrapped in Nitto NT05 tires.
Under the hood hides a custom individual throttle body set up and complete wire tuck. GT Channel
GT Channel chose to keep it subtle and stay true to the "tuner car" definition.
Partnering with Japanese tuning legend Mine's and MotoIQ, the GT Channel FR-S adds an HKS Supercharger, KW Clubsport coilovers and a complete catalog of Whiteline suspension components. The GT Channel FR-S is ready to take any competitor on the track. Speedhunters
Speedhunters created a track day racer inspired by vintage Trans-Am, pro-touring and muscle cars.
With plenty of attention to detail, there's always something new to see every time you look at Speedhunters build.
