Real or Not Real? New Steel Bodied Versions of Late Model Cars

IMG_8171 We all have our dream cars and autos we have ogled over for years and years saying one of these days I'm gonna get me one and be behind the wheel cruising down PCH with my lady by my side and the dog in the back with its tongue hanging out the window…. Or something like that. We can vision ourselves in cars before we even really know what they are , how much they cost, and the scarcity. IMG_8159 Dynacorn Classic Bodies We all probably know the saying you gotta pay to play right? We understand its gonna take a few stacks of hundreds to get behind that wheel. This brings me to the scarcity. Let's imagine you want an Eleanor Mustang. You'd better be rich or real lucky, one or the other for sure. If you decided to build it yourself you might cut out a few of the chips it would take to drive one home from Barrett Jackson. Maybe. IMG_8165 You probably will start out with a rusty pile of parts. But if you think about how much your time is worth, it might be just cheaper to buy a brand new body. Thats right, brand new. If you have done patch panels before you probably know it can get out of hand real quick. If the rockers are toast, along with the floors, there's a whole lot more to do as you dig and dig. If it's a shop doing the work for you, well that bill can skyrocket real quick! So while we all like restoring the old, at times something new can actually make the most sense to the pocketbook. IMG_8168 While initially $25,000 might sound like a lot for a fresh steel body of your favorite "old" car, it's price tag makes a lot of sense after you begin thinking about what an original might cost you by the time you're done with it. D_144000 While this one from Downs Custom Performance isn't steel (it's fiberglass), it's another option for builders.  IMG_8226 United Pacific 1932 5-Window IMG_8236 Brookville Roadsters
