Started by accident, “Flat Top” Bob’s father, Robert Owens, began Owens Salvage Company. In the ‘60s, Robert Sr. owned a flourishing gas station, but had a sickness. That sickness was drag racing. He would buy old cars here and there to support his ongoing habit and fuel the fires at the strip. He began with a just a few and soon Robert Sr. had bought 5 acres to start storing them on.
