Nissan CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo: Could This Be the Next GT-R?
Sometimes concepts never leave the drawing board or the imaginations of the designers who dared to dream it in the first place. That was almost the case with this CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, a creative collaboration between Nissan Design Europe and the producers of Gran Turismo (yes, that video game). It was debuted to car enthusiasts worldwide at last summer's Goodwood Festival of Speed event in the UK, and a virtual version was even released for GT6. Though they weren't looking to see an actual concept car come to fruition, they were happy to see it "living" in a virtual world. But the engineering team from Japan's Nissan Technical Center had other plans...
That engineering team loved the design so much, they began to study it, running it on simulators and other technical evaluations before deciding the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo could be a viable design worth pushing forward. Now we have this 3D model available, one that was put on display at the Sapporo Motorshow this past weekend. Though it's far from becoming a production vehicle, we do see some strikingly familiar lines in it, very close to the GT-R. Could this be a sign of things to come? We can only hope.
