We stopped by a few vendors this week to see what new gauges were being offered for 2015. Auto Meter is probably the most known of all gauge companies and they definitely had some of the top two emerging technologies.
Auto Meter reached out to their customers and found the LCD competition dash was geared towards high-end purpose built cars; however, there was still a demand from enthusiasts. Auto Meter decided to create the LCD Sportsman Dash to bridge the gap by providing a plug-and-play touch screen unit.
Another cool technology Auto Meter is offering is their GPS gauges with inclinometer that also offer plug and play capabilities.
Holley produced a similar system for their LCD lineup through their Holley EFI dash systems.
Our stop to VDO gave us a glimpse into the demand for retro style gauges. With some dashboards becoming smaller and smaller, VDO launched their PRT tachs to provide a tachometer that is shallow, large and integrates a shift light for the street and hot rod driver.
VDO also chose to bring back an older style Porsche gauge, but turned it from mechanical to electronic.
