Happy 86 Day!

Today is August 6th! If you're not an import car person then it might just be Thursday, but for a few, today is 86 Day! For those who don't know, the 86 community originated around the late '80s Toyota Corolla, or AE86 as it's known. Over the past few years, the 86 community has gotten an injection of young blood with the release of the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 and all the new enthusiasts of this generation. How exactly would some celebrate 86 Day? One way is coming out to Chino, CA tonight for an 86 Day meet at Cafe 86 (say that 86 times fast). Cafe 86 is a common hang out spot for import tuners of all kinds looking to just hang out with friends, get a good cup of boba and maybe play a few board games. Tonight some of the groups most influential to the 86 scene - FRS86 / AutoTuned, Inland 86, Jackson Racing and Super Street - have linked up with Cafe 86 to make tonight an official 86 Day gathering. James Dimapasok, owner of Cafe 86, isn't just known for serving up Tiger Tea boba drinks (half milk tea, half Thai tea) and Ube Leche Flan cupcakes. James is also automotive enthusiast, owning a variety of cars including his own AE86. There's no secret where the "86" in the cafe's name came from, there's AE86 toys on display if it wasn't obvious enough.
