Formula Drift: Round 6 was held for the first time at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, TX. With entry speeds exceeding 100 mph, the track layout provided a challenge. Nitto Racing driver Vaughn Gittin Jr. progressed to the Great 8, gaining points to keep him in competition for the Championship. In the end, it was Michael Essa who took 1st in a final battle against Matt Field. “It is always exciting to hold an event at a new venue and Texas Motor Speedway provided a great place to showcase drifting. The event outcome sets up a competitive finale, ” stated Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “With only one competition left in the season, the Championship is up for grabs with the top six drivers vying to be crowned champion.” Gittin currently sits just 79.50 points from 1st, with fellow Nitto drivers Chelsea DeNofa and Matt Powers also holding places in the top 16. Round 7: Irwindale will decide the 2013 Formula Drift Champion on October 12th.
