Eliminator: 5 Tips for Winning Forza Horizon 4’s New Battle Royale
With the ever-growing popularity of Battle Royale games, you’d be hard pressed not to find the game mode in all of your favorite video games. If you haven’t loaded up your copy of Forza Horizon 4 lately, you’re in for a treat, playground Games introduced a new game mode for the racing franchise in the form of a free-to-play update. It’s called Eliminator, a 72-player Battle Royale in which drivers compete in head-to-head races to ultimately become the Eliminator. Get caught outside of the map, or lose to your opponent, and you’re out. But how do you play a Battle Royale with cars? And how do you win? We’ve laid out our top five tips that will aid you to eliminate the competition.
1. Securing the Best Cars
Your first goal to winning the Eliminator is to find and secure better cars.
Everyone starts out with the same 1965 Mini Cooper S, and will need to either loot the purple flares on the map to swap cars, win head-to-head races against other players to steal their ride, or upgrade to a higher tier once you’ve eliminated your opponent. With 10 levels of rarity, car drops can range from a Ford Raptor to an Audi R8. So, it definitely helps to be the aggressor and challenge as many players as possible if you want the advantage in the end game.
2. Faster Doesn't Always Mean Better
With a large roster of vehicles to choose from in Eliminator, picking the right car will be the difference between progressing to the next phase or loading up a new game.
Always picking a hyper car, like a Lamborghini Aventador, isn’t always the best choice. Since Eliminator utilizes the entire Forza Horizon 4 map, often times drivers will need to find shortcuts and race off-road or weave through heavily wooded forests in order to secure the win. Open your map to check your surrounding area and make sure you’re not stuck with the wrong vehicle.
3. Challenge Accepted!
Keeping a close eye on the competition will be the key to winning your first game. Utilize the floating camera to look in all directions and find unsuspecting players to challenge.
Initiating a race is as easy as honking your horn within a certain range of the other players, so it helps to keep moving as the race starts immediately once either of you triggers a face-off. Get the jump on other drivers by strategically driving past them when they are stationary or switching cars. Getting caught driving slowly or looking at your map is a sure-fire way to get eliminated as drivers will seemingly come out of nowhere.
4. Map Knowledge is King
Whether you’re a Forza veteran or you just purchased the game for the first time, one fact will always remain true. The map is huge. Knowing where you are and where you’re going will give you a huge advantage in any Battle Royale, so being able to look at your map quickly is essential.
We recommend changing one of your buttons in the in-game settings to take a quick glance at your surroundings. You can add the option by going to ‘setting’ > ‘map’ and adding the map to a button of your choice. We recommend the left stick to bring up the option quick and easy.
5. Predicting the Final Destination
In traditional Battle Royale fashion, the final circle will pit the remaining players against each other until only one remains. Forza Horizon 4 changes things, and we think for the better. Instead of facing-off in a one-versus-one format, the final 12 players will be racing towards the final location to become the Eliminator.
If done correctly, you can position yourself in a way to give yourself a head start and be the first to the finish line. The final race will end up outside of the arena making it more difficult to guess which direction to start driving towards. If you’re willing to take a gamble, we recommend to start driving towards the opposite edge right before the timer begins. Guess correctly, and you’ll have a head start on your way to winning the final showdown.
