When I was asked to produce the content for this month’s “Best of Cars & Coffee” – I was concerned that Murphy’s Law would kick in and I wouldn't find anything of particular interest. I’m at Cars & Coffee every weekend after all, so I’ve seen it all (or at least I thought I had). Here’s the Top 5 from the past 2 months:
1. Mansory Veyron Linea Vincero D’Oro
At then end of August, everyone woke up to 4 Bugatti’s (ode to Ace Hood) at C&C, but the one that stole the show was the Mansory Vincero De Oro. Dripping in Carbon Fiber with Gold accents, this was sincerely taking the Veyron to the next level. Let’s keep it real, you’re basically modifying a 1.5M vehicle. This isn’t being done at your local tuner – this is true bespoke aftermarket craziness.
Per Mansory’s website:
Compared with the standard Veyron, the LINEA Vincerò has received a comprehensive facelift to its front, consisting of modified fenders, a shortened bonnet and a striking front apron. The LED daytime running lights and the stylised letter “V” (paying homage to the name Vincerò) built into the car’s front end are particular highlights of the new design while the newly developed side skirts form a visual and aerodynamic link between the axles. Larger air outlets at the rear and at the sides of the car ensure optimal engine cooling and, with the new diffuser, underscore the vehicle’s vibrant design. MANSORY manufactures almost all the components in the car’s body from ultralight, highstrength carbon and the autoclave method of hardening under high pressure and high temperatures used during the manufacturing process makes a huge improvement to the quality of the materials. One unique feature of the design of the LINEA Vincerò d’Oro is the carbon fabric with inbuilt copper thread used by MANSORY, the metallic sheen of which really brings out the exceptional nature of this special car.
Yeah, “because you can” is why you build something like this.
2. Singer Porsche 911
If you could water a Kyosho or BBR die cast car and it would magically grow into full size, you’d probably appreciate the Singer Porsche 911. Not your typical old school 911, the Singer is a testament to those who long for that old school feel, with amazing attention to detail and perfected fabrication.
The Singer is more rolling art than vehicle – quilted engine firewall? Sure, the carpet matches the drapes.
You don’t see interiors like this often…or should I say EVER.
Flared fenders, curved to perfection
The Singer is living proof that you can go back to the future.
3. Nissan Juke-R
I had actually seen one of these for the first time in person back in July when I attended the Pixar Motorama event – to my shock a little over a month later, I’d be staring at it again – considering only 7 exist in the world with 3 in Dubai.
In case you didn’t know, the Juke-R is your basic run of the mill Nissan Juke with a crazy body kit, suspension and a GT-R motor.
Did you catch that last piece? Yes, a GT-R motor.
4. The Homer Car
Yes, this is THE Homer Car for all you Simpsons fans. Such a cool car with all the details included – no stone unturned. This is what makes Cars & Coffee what it is…
Squishee cupholder – must’ve been on the way back from the Qwikee Mart! Actually, this car wasn't just made for show - it's run in 24 Hours of Lemons. If you don't know what that race is, it's the craziest endurance race you've never seen: www.24hoursoflemons.com.
5. Nissan Leaf Nismo RC
If you gotta go green…this is it! Bet they don’t have many $199 offers on this guy ;) Just as you’ve probably read online, this is the world’s first 100% electric, no tailpipe, track-ready race car.
Talk about a silent killer…I would love to take this thing in the carpool lane!
*Honorable Mention - All the stock ///M5’s. That’s a joke guys...sincerely.
So even for us “regulars” there are always a few surprises that show up at Cars & Coffee.
