Autobots Get a Refresh for Transformers 4

Transformers4_Car_Camero_feature After watching 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, most people thought the movie series had come to a close. With the recent release of four new cars on director Michael Bay’s website, it’s evident that a Transformers 4 is coming. Whether you love the comic-inspired movie series or not, the four new cars look spectacular and will surely provide some on-screen excitement when the movie is released in June 2014. Bumblebee has come a long way from his start in 2007’s Transformers. Beginning as an original 1975 Camaro, the character later transforms into a hipper vehicle based on a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. While Bumblebee may have ’67 steel, his styling is thoroughly modern with satin black paint and a front-wrapped racing stripe, front splitter, and what appears to be carbon fender flares tucking in a set of Nitto Invo tires. Transformers4_Cars_OptimusPrime_WesternStar Autobot leader, Optimus Prime, has also undergone a huge “transformation” going from a Peterbilt Semi Truck to a custom-built Western Star. Optimus retains most all of the same elements, the flame paint job and chrome accents, but has gone up a few sizes gaining a more aggressive look. Transformers4_Cars_Hound Another mega-sized autobot, Hound is returning as his rugged and reliable self - a Medium Tactical Vehicle from Oshkosh Defense. Transformers4_Cars_Bugatti_GrandSportVitesse Completely new to the scene, a Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse and C7 Corvette Stingray are joining the ranks. Which characters they represent remains up for debate. Both thought to be autobots, the Bugatti is rumored to be either Drift or Blurr and brings to the team not only sexy curves, but also 1,200-horsepower. We’re already cringing as we imagine the possible crashes this $2.4 million beauty will undergo during filming, but admit that the Bugatti’s design offers amazing possibilities towards transforming into an other-worldly robot. Transformers4_Cars_Corvette_C7_Stingray Building upon the partnership with GM, a character rumored to be Slingshot will be taking the form of the 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray. Usually part of the Aerialbots team, Slingshot's new vehicular form still looks ready for flight. With Driving Line’s view into the topic of “Man vs. Machine” this past month, Transformer’s story of robot aliens fighting both for and against mankind paints an interesting picture. With machines being on either side of the battle, it almost draws a parallel to our own relationships with cars. Sometimes we’re fighting together (breaking speed records, accomplishing feats we never thought possible) – and at others it seems like we’re arch enemies (wrestling over a job in the garage, experiencing a breakdown at the most inopportune time). Perhaps it's a battle which can never be won...we’re happy to continue the journey nonetheless!
