Lexus Drops the Stunning LC 500 at the 2016 NAIAS
Joining the likes of its IS, RC and LF A family members is this bad-ass RWD coupe from Lexus, dubbed the LC 500. Equipped with a 467hp 5.0L V8 engine (the same one found in the RC F and GS F), it utilizes a dual intake inlet for improved airflow while the exhaust features special baffles to produce more aggressive exhaust sound in just about any driving mode, particularly Sport. Mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, it’s said to be able to shift as quickly as cars equipped with a dual-clutch system—pretty impressive when we’re talking luxury performance.
Lexus’ engineers placed handling as one of its top features, designing it in such a way that it positions the engine and passengers lower and centered in the chassis to improve its center of gravity. Other LC 500 highlights include weight savings, which come in the form of a carbon fiber roof, aluminum door skins mated to carbon fiber inner door structures and a composite trunk floor.
The Lexus LC 500 is slated to come in a little under $100K starting, and as we find more info, we’ll drop the word.
