New York Auto Show 2015: It's Good To Be Rich

Many auto shows like to pride themselves on having "something for everyone," but in America’s most expensive city, 2015's New York International Auto Show was a party for the 1%. And, of course, those of us that like to dream.. and drool. [caption id="attachment_36657" align="alignnone" width="1200"] The Koenigsegg Agera has a base price of $1.5 million The Koenigsegg Agera has a base price of $1.5 million[/caption] The fun all started where it always does, with the exotics. This year, the rare, extraordinary and stunning Koenigsegg Agera arrived from Sweden. Between the removable hard top, hollow carbon fiber wheels and a top speed of over 270mph, the Agera is a great reason to start a hedge fund. Fun like this doesn’t come cheap—the Vulcan is reportedly clocking a cool $2.3 million price tag. Don’t go putting your kidneys on Ebay just yet, they’re only making 24 Vulcans. So by the time the Sultans, the Saudis, and Silicon Valley is done buying them up, your garage won’t stand a chance of scoring. Perhaps we’ll all have more luck with McLaren’s "most attainable" vehicle, the 570S. McLaren didn’t reveal whether purchase includes a McLaren college fund. Maybe you'd rather keep $30k in your account by considering the Nissan GT-R NISMO. [caption id="attachment_36656" align="alignnone" width="1200"] 600 HP Nissan GT-R NISMO 600 HP Nissan GT-R NISMO[/caption] After years of anticipation, Nissan’s motorsports jewel is scheduled to finally arrive State-side with limited availability. Featuring NISMO-tuned suspension and an additional 18lb feet of torque, the NISMO version makes this Godzilla even meaner. If your hands have tired from counting endless wads of cash, maybe you’d prefer to be driven. The new Range Rover SVAutobiography would be a terrific choice - reportedly the “most luxurious Range Rover to date.” The SVAutobiography interior is entirely leather wrapped and back seats seem more La-Z-Boy than Land Rover - you bet your sweet summer house it’s plush. [caption id="attachment_36659" align="alignnone" width="1200"] The $199,000 Range Rover SVAutobiography The $199,000 Range Rover SVAutobiography[/caption] And don’t worry, Jeeves can still rush you to the Hamptons before your guests get grumpy with its 550 hp, 5L v8. With a price tag hovering at $200k, don’t be fooled, you're not likely to rock this Rover off-road. The great news about all of this over-the-top pricing is that the BMW B6 ALPINA Grand Coupe feels like a virtual bargain at $125,000. Launched to commemorate BMW's 40 years in North America, this ALPINA sports 600 horse & gets you from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds, thus making it the fastest BMW available.
