Let me paint you a picture… You sit wondering like some of us if there will be a day that the car of yours will ever be done and in some candy shop of a paint house. Well for SEMA, the candy store was brought, and strong! Paint is the number one thing everyone looks at. It's the cover, the end, the Paint.
While some opt for the more traditional stock & OEM colors, there is a select few owners that love the brightly painted and unusual. Painting cars is a serious art. I drooled over at the Lowrider booth for about an hour - I am a magpie when it comes to the shiny bits, immediately flocking to the flip-flop paint and flakes!
Graphics and airbrushing are all over the place, but I think what is trending for the new-model car enthusiasts is the suede paints on new cars and trucks. There are a handful of manufacturers that will paint it stock and brand new out the door.
For those of you that paint, or just like the freaky stuff, you'll definitely find yourself at House of Kolor. Everyone in the custom car world uses at least one of their products, if not more. I've talked to people sponsored by competing paint companies that still swear to HOK Inner Klear and candies... but shhhh!
PPG is another large paint manufacturer that always has amazing colors and magnificant cars showing at SEMA.
When it's all said and done, these paints create art and the canvas is the car. I've captured for y'all the essence of the show with all the wonderful paint swatches you can handle.
