Last weekend saw the second race of the 2013 Ultra4 series, with Jason Scherer taking a well-earned 1st place podium at MetalCloak Nor Cal Stampede. Competing near his hometown, Scherer qualified 3rd on Friday. Quickly taking 1st during Saturday's race, he completed the 45-minute off road and rock crawling course flawlessly. Jason's victory must have been even sweeter with plenty of friends and family there to celebrate it with him.
This win is especially meaningful, since he experienced mechanical problems during Ultra4s last championship race, King of Hammers. Losing power steering, Scherer muscled through the last two laps of the grueling race without it. Continually improving his single seat IFS car since it's unveil just over a year ago, perhaps Jason has finally found its sweet spot, which includes Nitto Trail Grappler K-Spec tires.
Taking second in the MetalCloak Stampede was a fellow Nitto Racing driver, Loren Healy. Look for the next race towards the Nitto Tire National Championship this coming weekend at Rausch Creek Qualifier in Tremont, Pennsylvania.
